Phoenix´s thoughts

So far, a great book. Love how it is written and how it is racily empowered. Also love how it is a true story in WW2. I have currently learned that Kii Yahzi is hearing about the US declaring war against japan, and the Marine Corps is recruiting Navajos for work. When the recruiter arrives, Kii Yahzi and a couple of other people are looking at him and admiring him. They are then taken to boot camp, where they are trained with white people. The Navajos are then top of the class. They then learn how to code talk, then are sent to sea to onikiwa, a Japanese island taken control of by crazy people. They arrive ashore, but nothing happens! Love how it´s suspenseful. Later on, they are in the jungle and are making camp, but then US fire comes in and attacks them! They get it sorted out and nobody is injured. Then they are talking about different rations. I thought they only had one type of ration!
Later on, they have a new year celebration and most of the people (except Kii Yahzi) got drunk.
After that, they are explaining kamikaze planes, AKA suicide bombers, to us. I dont understand killing yourself for ¨the grand emperor¨ along with others. I just don´t understand! Hell, they have THEIR FUNERALS before getting into planes! Insanity i tell you!
